Full-day vs half-day vs single class: how to decide
Holiday programs come in three formats, each with a different trade-off between cost, stamina and childcare. Here's how to pick, and why you shouldn't pre-commit to a full week with a provider you've never tried.
Full-day (~$80–120/day)
Best for 8+ with stamina, working parents who need childcare, and kids who are genuinely into the topic. Pack lunch, snacks, a change of clothes and a water bottle; pickup is usually 3–4pm.
Half-day (~$50–70/day)
Best for 5–7-year-olds, first-time camp-goers, and anyone who finds full days draining. You split the day (morning camp plus afternoon park, or afternoon camp plus a morning at home) and there's less to pack.
Single class / drop-in (~5–40)
Best for trying a new activity, last-minute filler, or a budget week. Low commitment; it won't build week-long momentum, but it's useful when you just need 90 minutes.
Rule of thumb
For a first holiday with a new provider, do a half-day or a single class first. If it lands, book full-days next holiday. Don't pre-commit to a 5-day full week with someone you've never tried.
