Sibling-friendly holiday programs: one drop-off, two kids

Juggling two kids across the holidays usually comes down to one thing: can you cover them with a single drop-off? Two structures actually work for that. Here's how to find them, and the questions that tell you whether they'll really line up.

Same program, multiple ages

Rare and valuable. Think nature and outdoor camps that group by age within one venue, big rec centres running parallel sessions, or holiday clubs at primary schools (often through OSHC providers; check your school's program). One drop-off, one pickup.

Parallel programs at the same venue

More common. Art studios with a junior (5–7) and senior (8–12) class running at once; sports clubs with age-streamed camps; community centres with workshops in parallel rooms. Same venue, different rooms.

What to ask

  • Are start and end times aligned across the age groups? (Misaligned times defeat the point.)
  • Is there a waiting area if you have to drop one off before the other starts?
  • What's the staff ratio for the younger group? Younger kids often need more support than the listing suggests.

If the ages diverge too far (a 5-year-old and a 12-year-old), book different venues but match start times. Two short trips beats one program that pretends to suit both ages and suits neither.
